H.M.Borges  was founded in 1877 by Henrique Menezes Borges, who devoted his entire life to searching for a selection of wines produced on the Island of Madeira, for ageing wine. It is currently managed by the fourth generation of his family.

H.M.Borge´s mission is to:" Grow, produce and sell wines of the highest quality and of the highest value to its customers, seeking to improve the quality, efficiency, effectiveness and profitability and sharing the responsibility for solving problems, while maintaining a healthy, welcoming and safe environment, to ensure the well-being of their workers and building loyalty, pride, confidence and mutual respect".

The company's premises are located in the centre of Funchal, in a centenary building, built on a plot with approximately 1,600M2 and it has been in activity since 1924.

Due to the growing demand and the high level of product awareness in an increasingly demanding market, the company has adopted a new strategy, which resulted in the product's image make-over as well as a new corporate image. Its presence in different markets worldwide is part of the universe of H.M.Borges, Sucrs Lda clients. The increase in sales to all countries, confirms and supports this contemporary attitude reflected in the new image and sustained in the quality of the MADEIRA WINE.
