<p>Rubus wines represent another facet of Rui Roboredo Madeira's work, albeit with a concept and market positioning slightly different from his more well-known ranges, such as Beyra or Castello d'Alba. <br /><br />While the Beyra brand focuses exclusively on the extreme identity of the Beira Interior and altitude, the Rubus project often arises associated with a philosophy of signature wines with a very gastronomic profile, elegant and with a strong connection to the Portuguese winemaking tradition, exploring the potential of different terroirs and old vines. The name Rubus makes a scientific and poetic allusion to the botanical genus of blackberries and wild fruits (Rubus), which are very common and desired aromatic descriptors in high-quality red wines.</p>

When the company first started, wines were produced and sold wholesale and unbranded. It was the current management that decided to take on the challenge that is involved in creating an own brand wine. 1997 was the year of the company's new beginning in wine making, with red wine "Terras do Po tinto", being the first to be produced and bottled on the premises of the Ermelinda Freitas winery.</p>

<p></p> <p>Located between two natural reserves, from the Estuary of the Tagus to the Northwest and the Sado to the southwest, the west of the Arrábida and the source of Barros Alentejanos, the region of Pegões presents privileged soil and climatic conditions.<br />With a climate of Mediterranean influence and located in the flat soil spot called "Pliocénio de Pegões", characterized by poor sandy soil formed over millions of years by the deposition of the sands transported by the Tejo and Sado rivers, it produces wines with unique characteristics, own of a terroir that only in Pegões exists.</p>
