Tinta Negra do Estreito 2024 Red Wine

Tinta Negra do Estreito Red Wine presents a very open and bright ruby color. The nose explodes with fresh red fruit (like crushed strawberry and pomegranate), exotic notes (guava and watermelon), and a very elegant vegetal and spiced touch.
In the mouth, it follows a register that reminds of a Pinot Noir style (pinotated), revealing itself as a very light red, with vibrant acidity, delicate texture, and excellent persistence.

Pairing: Due to its lightness and freshness, it is the ideal wine to make the transition between fish and meat dishes. It beautifully accompanies fatty or complex oven-roasted fish, as well as white meats or light poultry. It should be served slightly cool, around 14 °C to 16 °C.

"Tinta Negra dos Villões Estreito" is a unique, serene red wine (non-fortified), produced on the island of Madeira under the auspices of the Companhia dos Profetas e dos Villões.

This project brings together the winemaker António Maçanita and the viticulturist Nuno Faria. The focus of the project is to showcase the potential of traditional Madeiran grape varieties in table wines outside of the traditional fortified Madeira Wine circuit. "

Tinta Negra dos Villões - Estreito" comes from a small parcel of old vines over 60 years old in the Estreito de Câmara de Lobos, which displays the full potential of this variety on the South coast of the Madeira Island.

The founders of D’Oliveiras were visionaries that saw the true value of Madeira Wine: its ability to improve over time. Therefore they started storing as much Madeira Wine as possible, letting it slowly mature inside the barrels for future generations to be able to enjoy it further. For that reason, D’Oliveiras is the only Madeira Wine company that owns Madeira Wine bottles and Barrels from as far as the 1850’s that can still be commercially purchased.
