<p>Niepoort White Reserve is harvested earlier than usual on the island, aged in stainless steel and is composed of three grape varieties: Verdelho, Arinto from the Azores and Terrantez from Pico.</p> <p>The colour is golden due to its partial stage in wood.</p> <p>In the nose, one can feel the iodine of the sea, citrus, apricot, spices such as vanilla pods.</p> <p>In the mouth it is structured, denser than one would expect, with an acidity that balances the almost salty aftertaste.</p>

In the mouth, dense attack, very concentrated, vibrant acidity that remains until the end of the tasting. Then, salt, salt, salt and iodine, it's a wine that could only have been born in the sea.</p> <p>A wine born in the sea, ready to harmonize with seafood, bitter fish (mullet, sea roe, sea urchins) but with a density and concentration to work with white meats with burnt fat, like a good suckling pig or even a pork belly.</p>

<p>1º Jeirões São Mateus Verdelho White Wine is a unique product of the Azores Designated Region, more precisely, the Island of Pico - a one-of-a-kind terroir globally recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its volcanic stone corrals. The vineyards of São Mateus are planted right by the coast, on soils formed by volcanic rock (black lava). To protect the vines from the strong winds and salinity of the Atlantic Ocean, the plants are sheltered by overlapping stone walls, locally known as corrals. The process of harvesting this wine involves selective manual harvesting and selection on a sorting table. Whole bunch pressing takes place, followed by racking after 6 hours. Spontaneous fermentation occurs in 600-1000L horizontal vats (70%) and in used French oak barrels (30%). This meticulous process results in a unique wine that embodies the character of its extraordinary place of origin.</p>
