Shortly thereafter, Werner Nakel joined them as the third partner.

Situated between Régua and Pinhão, in the heart of the Douro Demarcated Region, it is constituted solely by vineyards A and B, the best of the Portuguese classification system.

It has 8 hectares, being without exceptions of vineyards to the top with plantation of the native varieties Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca, Touriga Nacional and Touriga Franca.

The mean age of the strains is between 20 and 40 years. Quinta da Carvalhosa's annual production is approximately 40,000 bottles.
