After dedicating nearly 50 years of his life to Duriense winemaking and just a few years before his death, José António Castro Ramos Pinto Rosas decided to fulfill his last dream, to realize the "perfect quinta" for the production of Port Wines and Douro. 

After a long and detailed study of the Douro Demarcated Region and with the help of topographic charts, José Rosas (father of Jorge Rosas) found a property of about 20 hectares in the Douro Superior near Vila Nova de Foz Côa, which for its Characteristics (location, altitude, sun exposure, soils, etc.), thought to have the ideal conditions to produce wines of superior quality.
