<p></p><p>Palato do Coa started in 2007, when the winemaker Carlos Magalhães challenged 5 of his friends to buy Quinta da Saudade, located in the Douro Superior, Vila Nova de Foz Côa; considered by many one of the best terroir of the Douro region, in Portugal. With the goal to produce the best Douro wines, the estate has 7.5 hectares of old vineyards and 8.5 hectares planted in 2010</p> <p></p> <p></p> <p></p>

<p></p><p>In the oldest wine region in the world, the Quinta da Penalva or Perdiz was born in the 1990s. This arose from the joining of small plots of land, mostly old vines, inherited from ancestors for whom the cultivation of vines was of little secret, as they had always done it. Later, and already with the current owner, more parcels were added, thus joining the old vines to new plantations, cultivated using the most recent planting techniques</p>

<p></p> <p>Quinta de Valbom red and Quinta de Valbom Reserva red are the two wines that this property produces. They result from vinification in granite lagares and the ageing takes place in French oak barrels.</p> <p>More than just producing one more wine, Luis Duarte's aim is to produce an ex-libris of the douro region, so he is in no hurry to put it on the market. On the contrary, he bets on prolonged ageing and the result is a wine where all the elements are more integrated, more harmonized giving more pleasure to drink it!</p>
