Quinta do Ortigão

Well planted in the heart of the Bairrada region, 15 ha of vineyards of Quinta do Ortigão, mix the traditional, the contemporary and the vision that Augusto Brandão Alegre managed to convey the two generations completely dedicated to the world of wine. The fifth family enters the first generation and remains attached to it since then. The production of grapes is your vocation from the start, limiting the manufacture of wine consumption from family and friends.Historically, the major concern of the owners focused on the careful selection and planting of selected varieties that allow the production of highly complex wines. In white stand out the Sauvignon, Chardonnay the, Arinto, Bical and the Maria Gomes. In red, the caste basis of Bairrada wines, the Berry, is complemented by three castes of high enological quality, Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz and Cabernet Sauvignon. In early 2001 the family decides to create his own wine farm, for which it fitted with a modern and well sized cellar. Its wine-making capacity approximately 120 000 lt and runs out fully with the farm grapes. With raw material of exceptional quality, cutting edge technology and the know-how of three generations, Quinta do Ortigão is able to impose itself in the wine world and to become a prestigious reference for the region and the country.
